The Washington State Real Estate Commission and the Department of Licensing have adopted rules that require the completion of a minimum 3.5 clock hours of prescribed core curriculum. The mandatory clock hours must be included in the 30 hours required for all active licensees.

Michael R. Schoonover is the 2014 President-Elect of the Washington REALTORS®. He has 29 years of experience in property management, development, acquisition and deposition. He focus's his practice on vacant land and commercial real estate. Currently, he is the Managing Director of RE/MAX Honors–Commercial Division in Puyallup, WA. One of the fastest growing commercial Brokerages in the region. Michael has served on numerous Washington REALTORS® committees, PAG's, Task Forces and as the chair of the Legislative Steering committee as well as its Vice President of Government Affairs. He was awarded Washington REALTORS® “Commercial REALTOR® of the Year” in 2010, and received the REALTORS® Land Institutes “Washington State Land Broker of the Year” the same year. In 2012 Michael was recognized as the “Hugh Hawkins Instructor of the Year”. Recently Michael received the National Association of REALTORS® “2013 National Commercial Award” for outstanding service in the field of Commercial Real Estate. Michael's service extends to the National level where he currently service on two committees. As an instructor/speaker for Washington REALTORS®, REBAC® and the REALTORS® Land Institute Michael has taught classes and given keynote addresses around the country and at several national conventions. He recently co–wrote and developed the VA & Military Real Estate Specialist© certification and authored the PRIMETIME© Time Management and Business Planning Program. Michael is a graduate of Portland State University. Michael and Cheryl live in Gig Harbor, WA and enjoy their four adult children and for active grandchildren.
